Summertime Fun

As every summer of mine promises to be, this summer has been no exception--full of family, swimming, traveling, late nights, and a few little surprises here and there. (nope, I'm not pregnant, for those of you who only think of surprises as equalling "pregnancy"--I'm one of those people too.)

Just after we got settled into our new kitchen, a cute, dirty little white kitten showed up at our door, hungry and snuggly, begging for a home. This isn't the first time we've had cat-beggars at our door, and historically, we've always said NO. But this one was different somehow--probably because I had two little sympathetic girls begging to take in this poor little kitty, "We have to Mommy! Look at her!"

So one day, we were content with Peter--our old, lovable, orange cat that has been with us since marriage. And the next day we gain a frisky, snuggly, somewhat sick kitty. Who knew? But we decided, after bathing this sweet little thing and discovering that her grey spot on her head could never be scrubbed out (she was born with it, apparently), that it must be a sign...white and grey, the color of our new kitchen? This cat was meant to be ours...

Thus, we begin a new era in our lives--the world of two cats. Seriously, I never thought we'd do it...
Peter and Polly--Pretty much, Polly tries to pounce on Peter, anytime, anywhere, and Peter responds with
an annoyed meow, and begs to be let out. We're hoping that soon they'll be snuggling too.

what a pretty addition, and what a sweet story! As I was reading, I remembered that this was how Peter was adopted into the Newton family -- except that time it was Mercy begging for the kitty (i think?) and not Amaleah and Julia. And also, I remember that ConCola hated Peter from the beginning. But instead of just asking to be let out, she would repeatedly attack him. Since Peter isn't attacking Polly, I think there's hope that he'll come around : )

I love the story and the picture is absolutely perfect. Can't wait to meet Polly and I'm thinking of the reverse rolls for Pete
